Can you imagine living on an island with a population of about 2,000 people? Or in a town on that island of about 300 people? North Stradbroke Island is an easy 30 minute ferry ride from the mainland and is best described as a cross between Noosa & Byron Bay. It's renowned as a place to spot kangaroos, koalas, dolphins, turtles, manta rays and humpback whales. There's also some fantastic beaches for surfing, snorkelling & 4 Wheel Driving.
I spent the night in a great little cabin courtesy of StraddieCamping.com.au who own and operate the best 6 camping and cabin locations on the island. If you ever want to check out the island then make sure you check out their website to help plan and organise your stay StraddieCamping.com.au.
Just a few feet away from my cabin door I was able to end my day with this sunset. Being such a small place, there was really only a couple of places to have dinner and being bare-foot is the relaxed norm.
In the morning I hit the beach and enjoyed a bit of the surf. Then it was onto the next destination, Brisbane!
