Ahh Brisbane…the perfect river city, with the ideal balance of relaxed lifestyle and vibrant city culture. 3 days was barely enough to enjoy Brisbane but I gave it my best shot.
This was the first time in the road trip that I was going to be staying with Base - the ultimate backpackers hostel. Base has a reputation as the most fun hostel that a traveler can stay at. There are events pretty much every night and there is almost always a great bar attached to the hostel. The staff knew the ParkMyVan crew was coming and I was treated to Chocolates and a welcome letter on my arrival - sweet. This was going to be fun.
That first night in Brisbane I did little else but party and got the 5-star treatment from the great staff at both the reception and bar. Good times were had.
The next day required a healthy breakfast to negate the pounding of the chimpanzees playing a clashing symphony in my head. I opted for bacon and eggs, but my mate William got this rather Instagram worthy plate of fruits.
Then it was time to explore the city! Brisbane is a fantastic city to explore by foot. There are a few self-guided walking tours one can take that leads you through old alleyways, past cathedrals and shopping centres, down to the river and across the bridge and finally through the river-side lagoons and big ferriss wheel. Here are some snaps I took on the walk.
In the afternoon it was time for our first Park My Van sponsored BBQ for the guests of Base in Brisbane. Everyone loves a free feed (especially backpackers!) - so it was a well received event indeed. To make it even more fun we gave out a ton of free product from some of our sponsors for the road trip and played Limbo to some dancing tunes. Can't wait for the next BBQ!
